We’re excited about our upcoming Coffee House Annual Fundraiser on the evening of November 18th at Rolling Hills Community Church.

This year’s theme is Family Night at the Movies and we’ve got some REALLY fun things in store. Every year this event sells out (and sells out quickly) so mark your calendars now and be on the lookout for tickets to be on sale in an upcoming Falcon Flyer.

This evening is a highlight of the year for our school and its primary purpose is to raise money for our school’s annual fund which exists to meet the needs of our school that tuition alone does not cover. 

 

A fun part of the evening each year is getting to see performances from our talented students! This year, we’ve made additional improvements aimed at featuring as many students in the program as possible while honoring both the time of our families and the other primary purpose of the evening… the fundraising!
 

AUDITIONS

We have several elective classes in the Lower School that are already performing at Coffee House but we want to feature students from across our student body as well. Auditions are open to any grade and we look forward to seeing auditions that meet the following criteria:
 

• Performances may be song or dance numbers and may be solo or group performances. *We will have a live band that can accompany performances or soundtracks are possible also.

• Music chosen must be from a motion picture (in keeping with our theme!)

• Music must be clean and may not contain inappropriate lyrics or content. 

• Auditions are via VIDEO ONLY and needs to be around 3 minutes or less

• Audition video submission deadline is Monday, October 14th.

   

**Remember, the song you select to perform must be from a movie. If you are interested in auditioning, please look at the list posted on the bulletin board outside the Performing Arts room and the bulletin board outside the Lower School office to see the movies that have already been claimed. If your song is not on the list, please email Mrs. McLain to claim a certain movie for your audition, and to help keep the list updated.

 

After recording your audition:

• Create a new folder in Google Drive. You can use the Google Drive associated with your FCA email account, a personal email, or Mom/Dad’s email.

• Name the Folder “First Name Last Name Coffee House Audition” (and yes, insert your actual first name and last name.)

• Upload your audition video to that folder.

• Open the “share” tab for that folder, scroll down to general access, and ensure “anyone with the link can view” is selected, not “private/restricted.”

• Click the “copy link” button which will copy the address of that folder with your video in it.

• Email Shana McLain at smclain@franklinchristianacademy.orgwith subject “First Name Last Name Coffee House Audition” (and yes, insert your actual first name and last name.)

• Paste the link to your video directly into the email. DO NOT share the link through the share tab in Google Drive. This makes it difficult to sort in an inbox.

• Also in the email: state what movie your song is from. 

• Send your email to Mrs. McLain.

 

Once auditions are submitted, we will determine those who will participate in Coffee House by Friday, October 18th. You’ll then have a month to put the finishing touches on your performance. We’ve opened up almost double the spots of last year’s show, but we likely will not have a spot for everyone who auditions. In this case, don’t forget that there will also be an opportunity to perform at a talent show sometime this winter!
