FCA students have many opportunities to hone their performing arts skills & passions. As a small school, the level of excellence and opportunity we are able to provide students is surprising.
Melanie Sutton and her incredible team have extensive experience in theatre, music, and dance - as directors, vocal coaches, and performers themselves in well-known programs. They have a passion to bring out the best in their students - helping them create authentic characters and find their voice.
Our theatre program has risen to a position of notoriety in the local arts community. It is also a highlight for many of our students and a truly popular program. We often have as many as 40% of eligible high school students audition for the musical, and we will mount productions with casts as large as 37. We perform two full-scale High School theatrical productions a year and a full-scale Middle School Musical in late spring. All of this is unheard of among any other private school of our size!
FCA music, dance, and theatre students have received acceptance or scholarships to theatre programs at Belmont, Lipscomb, Samford, Clemson, American Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts (NYC), Berklee School of Music, and Point Park University. We have alumni now performing with Nashville Shakespeare Company, Nashville Children’s Theatre, and even in several major Hollywood motion pictures.
